Sewage cleanup shouldn’t be attempted by untrained individuals. Sewage water carries a lot of bacteria, viruses and other contaminants that can potentially cause serious health hazards and even death. Rashes, infections, and poisoning are just some of many health-related consequences of trying to do this without professional help. Montebello 24/7 Flood Clean Up workers carry with them special protective gear just for these types of jobs.
Water Contamination Classification
Depending on the level of contamination, water is classified into three groups. Each group is progressively worse and more time and effort is required to restore affected structures.
- Clean water - The first level is clean water, which means that no contaminants are in it. This water usually comes from a clean source, but if left untreated, it can easily turn into category 2 and 3 of contamination. Bear in mind that sewage water is never in this category.
- Grey water - The second level is grey water and it comes from contaminated sources like overflowing toilets, dishwashers, etc. This water contains harmful bacteria and chemicals. Cleaning areas affected by this level of contamination requires protective equipment and special tools, otherwise, you risk getting infections and poisoning.
- Black water - The third category is black water and it is by far the worst. This level of contamination comes from overflowing rivers that have picked up extremely harmful chemicals and substances on its way. Sewage water is part of this category. When handling this level of contamination, our workers wear full-body protective gear to protect them from contaminants that can even cause death.
